Sydney construction sites are set to return to full operation after a two-week shutdown dragged on for two months due to COVID-19 infection concerns.
The NSW Government yesterday agreed to ditch the 50 per cent capacity rule, allowing one worker per four square metres.
Treasurer Dominic Perrottet says this decision was crucial to the economy.
From Monday next week it will be back to 100 per cent capacity for the $10 billion industry. Some restrictions will remain, including masks on the job and the one person per four square metre rule.
Many industries will have similar restrictions placed on them as NSW continues to open up in the coming weeks, but for the 380,000 people working in the construction industry, the news is welcome.
