Rep. Lauren Boebert escorted out of theater after allegedly 'causing disturbance

In a recent incident report, it was noted that Representative Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado who serves in the House, and a companion were asked to leave a performance of the musical “Beetlejuice” in Denver due to disruptive behavior. Boebert and her buddy were not specifically mentioned in the report, which NBC News was able to receive. However, it indicated that two patrons were warned about their conduct during intermission, which allegedly involved vaping, singing loudly, and causing a disturbance. Three complaints were made by other audience members as a result of this behavior.

“It’s true, I did thoroughly enjoy the AMAZING Beetlejuice at the Buell Theatre and I plead guilty to laughing and singing too loud! 🤭” she wrote.

She added: “Everyone should go see it if you get the chance this week and please let me know how it ends! 😅”

In a statement, Drew Sexton, Boebert’s campaign manager, verified the occurrence, acknowledged that Boebert had liked the performance, and supported her right to support the performing arts.
Boebert also humorously compared the theater’s strict “no photos” policy to the enforcement of border laws.

On social media, Boebert referenced the incident, admitting to laughing and singing loudly during the performance and encouraging others to see the play, while playfully asking them to share the ending with her.

This incident was first covered by the Denver Post, and Boebert’s congressional office referred any questions to her campaign. The Denver Arts & Venue organization chose not to respond.

According to the incident report, the two disruptive patrons were described as “argumentative,” and a complaint arose about five minutes into the second act regarding their loud behavior and recording of the performance, which violated the theater’s rules. They allegedly refused to leave when requested to do so and were informed that doing so would constitute trespassing.
Eventually, they left the theater on their own accord, as captured by security footage obtained by NBC affiliate KUSA from the city of Denver.
